Western Boone Jr. - Sr. High School

The JH XC team wrapped up their season at the LaVern Gibson cross country course in Terre Haute this weekend, competing at the state championships! Several runners qualified for the varsity meet, and even in the heat, the Stars showed up ready to race and finished the season strong. For the boys, Ari Smith led the way, placing 40th in the Small School Varsity division in a very competitive field, just seconds off his personal record with a time of 10:54. He was followed by Griffin Johanson (12:40), Wyatt Delp (13:01), Hayden Trenary (13:06), and Liam Sartin (13:10) rounding out the top five scorers. For the girls, Bristol finished just seconds off her personal record as well with a time of 13:44 in the Small School Varsity race, followed by Hayley (15:15). Also racing for the girls team were Skyler Yarger (15:45), Alisha Manning (16:01), and Lydia Boggs, who battled the heat to earn a new personal record of 16:31! Go Lydia! It was a tough day to PR, making it even more impressive for those who came close and especially for Lydia, setting a new best. This group has worked hard all season, and it’s exciting to hear so many already talking about what they want to accomplish next year. Go Stars!
