The High School Cross Country teams travelled to Terre Haute Saturday evening to compete in the Nike XC Town Twilight. This is a unique nighttime race featuring multiple divisions including some of the top teams in the nation. Despite a very festive and high energy feel to the night, it remained extremely competitive and the Stars stepped up to the challenge with many new personal bests. In the boys open race Aiden Lester had a course best time of 17:59 followed by Brennen Bivens in at 18:40. Owen Young (19:33) and Eli Bishop (19:56) both ran their lifetime best races, while Brayden Schick was in at 20:18 for a new personal course record and Rex Stanley tied his best time of 20:19. Caleb Crockett had a great race coming in at 20:35, followed by Kole Nelson (22:13), Andres Morales (24:03) and Izaac Harsin (24:21) also with a PR. Leading the Lady Stars was Charlotte Stucky with a new personal best (20:39) followed by Joan Gearheart with a season best 21:56. Abigayle Humphrey recorded her best time of 22:59 while senior Janelle Gearheart ran her last race at Lavern Gibson with a new best course time of 23:57. Harmony Gilbrech shaved off over a minute from her best time, finishing in 24:10, Kate Higer was in at 24:55, Britney Richwine (26:51) and Adalyn Sartin (26:52) both recorded new best times, and Katrina Brewer finished in 27:49. This was a fun celebration of running event that capped off the regular season for both teams. Next weekend the Stars will travel to Cascade for their Conference Championships.
