The Western Boone Junior High Cross Country team competed Saturday at the Miller-Rock Invitational in Noblesville, joining 17 teams and nearly 1,000 athletes on one of the kids’ favorite cross country courses. While the course is well-loved, its narrow paths and large fields make it a challenge. The Stars rose to the occasion, with nearly every runner setting a new personal record or season best. The girls raced first, led by Bristol McCord, who cut more than a minute off her previous best with a time of 13:41. Hayley Trojnar also dropped nearly a minute, finishing in 14:28, followed by Skylar Yarger in 15:21, nearly a minute faster than her previous personal record. Alisha Manning set a new season best at 15:24, and Lydia Boggs rounded out the scoring five with another big improvement, running 16:42, almost a minute faster than her old personal best. In the boys race, Ari Smith led the Stars with a season best 11:11. He was followed by Griffin Johanson (12:30) and Hayden Trenary, who tied his personal record at 12:34. Gabriel Threlkeld had a breakout race, cutting nearly a minute from his best to finish in 12:37, and Wyatt Delp completed the scoring five in 12:40. Both Daniel Trittin (14:04) and Jacob Nance (15:20) also set new personal records, each trimming 10 seconds from their previous bests. Despite the tight course and massive fields, the Stars ran with determination and came away with an outstanding day full of new milestones.
