The Western Boone Lady Stars Soccer team, who finished 5th in the MAC, saw their season come to a close in the sectional semifinals, falling to the Tri-West Bruins, currently ranked among the top 10 in Class 2A. Tri-West advances with the 4-0 win, but for WeBo, the score didn’t fully capture the fight and organization the Stars showed throughout the contest. With an opportunity to face Danville on the line for the sectional championship, the Stars showed defensive intensity and discipline, and this effort stood out even more as they were missing key senior contributors Kara Culley and Paige Anderson, as well as it being the second game in as many days in tournament play. The loss capped a season defined by steady improvement, especially in the way the Stars shaped up defensively and managed the ball with more purpose in possession. The postseason ended the run, but the progress was evident from start to finish. It also marked the end of the high school soccer careers of senior captains Grace Maners, Brooklyn Vaughn, and Alex Muir, along with contributing seniors Ginette Stanfield, Morgan Cumberland, Paige Anderson, Kara Culley, Makenna Harrison, and Brenda Calhoun.
