The 7th Grade Lady Stars basketball team came away with their third victory of the season against the Lebanon Tigers on Tuesday night, 36-22. The team got off to a slow start in the first letting the Tigers dictate a slower game pace and control the tempo. The second quarter would be a different story as the Lady Stars started to warm up when Jayde Hobson put in a three-point shot from the wing giving the girls some momentum. The team started to push their own tempo getting into transition scoring 15 points in the 2nd quarter and closing the first half with a 22-7 advantage. In the second half the Lady Stars were able to maintain a comfortable lead throughout and close the game with a 36-22 victory over their county rivals. The girls were led in scoring by Kora Kistler with 18, Bella Edwards with 6, Jayde Hobson with 5, Jayden Paris with 3, and Quinn Cunningham with 2. The Western Boone girls 8th basketball team suffered their first loss 48-21. The Stars played hard and kept it close in the first quarter with several steals and rebounds but the Tigers were able to get to the foul line too many times. The Stars found themselves in serious foul trouble in the second quarter and the offense struggled to overcome the Tigers free throws trailing 26-11 at half. The second half was much of the same foul trouble hindering the Stars on defense and unable to get things going offensively. Ady Nicley lead in scoring with 16, Kathryn Gott and Bryar King added 2 each and Molly Rausch had 1. The 7th and 8th grade girls basketball teams will be at Greencastle this weekend for the Monon Classic Invitational where they will play Greencastle and North Putnam.
