Western Boone sent the Varsity Baseball team to Brownsburg Thursday evening for a game with the Bethesda Patriots. The Stars came away with an 8-3 victory. Jackson Grimes got the start on the mound and the win. Grimes pitched 4.0 solid innings and allowed 0 earned runs against 7 strikeouts. In the fifth inning, the left hander got in a bit of a bind and the Patriots loaded the bases with 0 outs. Senior Hunter Brose came in to relieve Grimes and was able to get three outs without allowing any of the runners to score. This earned Brose Player of the Game accolades. Brose pitched the sixth inning as well and again kept Bethesda completely at bay. The seventh inning pitcher was freshman Evan Kiplinger who came in with runners on first and second. Kip induced three weak pop-ups in the infield to secure the Stars victory. Quinn Westerfeld and Luke Jackson lead the offense with two hits each. Levi Stewart took advantage of a pinch hit opportunity and roped a double off of the left field wall; which is also their school as the Patriots play on quite a unique field. The Stars have taken advantage of three challenging opportunities so far this week but one more challenges lies ahead as the boys travel to Hamilton Heights Friday night for a 7:30 first pitch.
