The Western Boone Boys Varsity Golf team competed in the Kent Frandsen Invitational Saturday at Ulen. The nineteen-team field included some of the biggest schools and top golf programs in the state. For the Stars, the goal was to add experience and get a feel for what sectionals will look like in just over a month. Evan Terwiske would lead the Stars with a 95, a solid score, especially considering the blowing wind and rain that plagued most of the first nine holes. Jaice Butler would follow with a 98. To get there, Butler was able to rally from a rough first nine to score 41 on the back, a nine-hole score that would stand up with many of the top players in the field. Luke LaGrange's 102 was highlighted by a great putt made for birdie on hole number 7. Ben Fortner would also shoot a 102 to round out the scoring, as those two players continue to show growth and play great golf in stretches. The Stars will be back in action Thursday at Quail Creek vs hosting Tri-West.
